How difficult is it to become a full time game tester for a company and can you make a comfortable living not rich but average
 Anonymous

Very difficult if you correspond with them in all caps (I had to repost this question as the original was in full capitals).

To answer your question, it depends on your definitions of difficult, comfortable and average.

Testers generally get paid not much more above minimum wage. Depending on location and company, testers generally get between £12k-£16k depending on experience. Whether this is comfortable depends on the standard of living in that area and what you are used to.

Due to the low barrier to entry of the role, every job opening is likely to have many applicants so it can be tough to stand out from the crowd with no previous experience. Knowing someone who works for the company makes this a bit easier as you have someone who can vouch for you.

Also, a lot of testing roles are likely to be contract only as companies tend to ramp up during the latter half of the development lifecycle and ramp down again when the project is nearing the end.
